What would a “political revolution” look like?
Not the kind with pitchforks and torches but a civic uprising that disrupts the status quo that’s keeping the majority of Americans in a cycle of working poverty?
That’s what we need. We need a civic revolution.
It will require us to disrupt the status quo in the same way the most popular tech apps have disrupted the status quo of our economy.
I’m going to list some of the actions we could consider.
But first we need to be clear about why we need to do this.
- Half of all Americans earn less than $29,000 a year. If you live in any major city despite that being above the official poverty line, you are living in actual poverty.
- We have essentially no upward economic mobility for the lower half of the American workforce. Your hard work and innovation and dedication to your work will not get you ahead in any meaningful noticeable way. Actually between 1989 and 2018 the lower 50% lost 900 billion in wealth while the top 1% gained 21 Trillion dollars in wealth.
- We are the only advanced economic nation with a for profit healthcare system. Our costs are twice that of almost…
